I installed the 3.0 liquorix kernel last night and all went well. You may want to try again.

The NVidia legacy driver 173.14.31 was officially released, but I believe sgfxi still lists this driver as beta.
www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=2459679 I believe this update fixes a build issue with 3.0+ kernels. Edit: I may be confused here - sorry for the noise if that is the case. Back to top |

As you can see, the 31 is, and has been since release, the current stable legacy 3 driver. I made it stable because it offered xorg 1.10 support. Back to top |

paste.debian.net/154139/ I tried to install the 12-1 ATI driver (in the script: 279 FG_DEFAULT='12-11'.... I think that should be 12-1 than i used the option -o 12-1)... but it still does not work! Thank You!

Maybe I got the mistake .... The old driver starts with driver ati-driver-installer, but the new ones (I think from 12-1 up) begin with amd-driver-installer .... I hope this helps!
ps sorry for the English! XD Back to top |

You got the mistake right, thanks, that's now been updated/corrected in sgfxi. ati/amd loves to change their file names, it's their hobby.

------------------------------------------------------------------ 1. For a few users, the new udev may rename your eth0 to eth<x>, if this happens: delete /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules and reboot. Or run ceni or network config tools to use new eth number. ----------------------------------------------------------------- 2. You may see a strange text item appear during your upgrade. To get this to close, hit 'q' and the upgrade will continue, or q + enter, or just enter alone. ----------------------------------------------------------------- 3. NFS users: Replacing portmap with rpcbind fixes broken NFS, I suggest if you are using NFS, first install rpcbind and then do the upgrade. ----------------------------------------------------------------- 4. As long as you use Xorg 1.11.1, the very latest version, Xorg / nvidia should be working. Still no fglrx drivers for 1.10 or 1.11 as of Nov 13 2011 ----------------------------------------------------------------- 5. svmi users: virtualbox will fail because of a libssl version conflict. I would wait to upgrade if you are using the oracle version (not the oracle ----------------------------------------------------------------- 6. KDE 4.8 is entering Sid, watch for breaks and other oddities. direct download that svmi defaults to). Debian vbox works but oracle extensiopack fails. Back to top |
