Check out aptosid forum today. The fix seems to be in.

Sept 24, new xorg version, and looks like two 'success' stories - even green-lighted it at aptosid.

I tried without the ignoreABI option but 285.03 and xorg 1.11.1 wouldn't load the desktop. Now running with the ignoreABI option=true flag

Same as drb.

sgfxi doesn't have a sub version detection for xorg, I'll wait a bit.
Does this require the ignoreABI or not? Back to top |
It appears to depend on which driver you have. It does with latest beta 285.03 but hopefully a 'fixed' beta won't be too long

Hi,
Could someone confirm this? :: Code :: lspci
VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation G98M [GeForce G 105M] (rev a1) Installed "NVIDIA-Linux-x86-275.28.run" manually, everything seems to be running fine. :: Code :: cat /etc/X11/xorg.conf shows the following:
# nvidia-xconfig: X configuration file generated by nvidia-xconfig # nvidia-xconfig: version 275.28 (buildmeister@swio-display-x86-rhel47-04.nvidia.com) Wed Aug 31 19:19:34 PDT 2011 Section "ServerLayout" Identifier "Layout0" Screen 0 "Screen0" 0 0 InputDevice "Keyboard0" "CoreKeyboard" InputDevice "Mouse0" "CorePointer" EndSection Section "Files" EndSection Section "ServerFlags" Option "ignoreABI" "true" EndSection Section "InputDevice" # generated from default Identifier "Mouse0" Driver "mouse" Option "Protocol" "auto" Option "Device" "/dev/psaux" Option "Emulate3Buttons" "no" Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5" EndSection Section "InputDevice" # generated from default Identifier "Keyboard0" Driver "kbd" EndSection Section "Monitor" Identifier "Monitor0" VendorName "Unknown" ModelName "Unknown" HorizSync 28.0 - 33.0 VertRefresh 43.0 - 72.0 Option "DPMS" EndSection Section "Device" Identifier "Device0" Driver "nvidia" VendorName "NVIDIA Corporation" EndSection Section "Screen" Identifier "Screen0" Device "Device0" Monitor "Monitor0" DefaultDepth 24 Option "Coolbits" "1" Option "AddARGBGLXVisuals" "true" Option "TripleBuffer" "false" #BusID "PCI:1:0:0" SubSection "Display" Depth 24 EndSubSection EndSection Section "Extensions" Option "Composite" "enable" # Option "RENDER" "disable" EndSection Back to top |
Confirm what, that your system is running fine?
Is it? If it is, I don't see any errors offhand in your xorg.conf file, seems standard and normal except maybe the monitor freq, but that might be right so can't say. You are posting that xorg 1.11.1 is working fine? Show: inxi -Gx and we'll see, that shows everything we need to see. Back to top |

You are posting that xorg 1.11.1 is working fine? Show: inxi -Gx and we'll see, that shows everything we need to see. I mean is this f#@!ng driver ok to be used by others as this "as per Nvidia page" is recommended. - Added support for xserver ABI 11 (xorg-server 1.11). - Fixed a bug that caused the GLSL built-in uniforms gl_FrontMaterial and gl_BackMaterial to not be updated properly when calling glMaterial from a display list. - Fixed an error handling bug that caused the OpenGL driver to crash while running certain WebGL applications. - Fixed a bug in VDPAU that caused a glibc assertion when a call to VdpDeviceCreateX11 failed in certain ways. Note that the xorg.conf was built automatically by nvidia yet their first comment "Added support for xserver ABI 11" but the xorg.conf includes : :: Code :: Section "ServerFlags"
Option "ignoreABI" "true" EndSection Sorry, I myself am confused. Back to top |
You have to provide details or nobody can help you.
first, as I said, do you have xorg 1.11.1. the fixed/patched new version? If not, stop and get it before you do anything else, or you are totally wasting your time. Second: the 175 driver did not work on Debian, so make sure you tell us what distro you are running,, precisely. Third, provide the output of inxi -bx, latest inxi too, 1.7.23 This makes it so I don't have to try to get each detail painfully one at a time. nvidia and fglrx are both broken, latest betas from nvidia are reported working on xorg 1.11.1 in Debian Sid/Testing. Personally I'm waiting to upgrade xorg until this settles down, this is also by the way why I do not upgrade all the time, just a few times a year, I pick the times with fewest serious issues then upgrade my system. Works well. No further responses from me until we get the information requested above. If you have xorg 1.11.1 consider filing an nvidia bug report, but if and only if you have tested the latest nvidia beta for your card, and if it doesn't work. Back to top |
