Hi, I am a linux Mint 22 user, I have used liquorix kernel without problems for months, until I installed 6.9.12-2. From that moment on, my system freezes just when the desktop should appear (I suppose after initrd loads).
The only thing changed on my system is the kernel 6.9.12-1 > 6.9.12-2. Using 6.10.3-1 does not resolve the issue.

Knowing what changed in the -2 release would help.

I need some help, if you can.

Thank you.

First, make sure you read the "read before posting" thread, it contains a lot of instructions of information I need from you: techpatterns.com/forums/about3030.html

As for what changed, below is the changelog. A fix to audio through HDMI with AMD devices was added:
:: Code ::
linux-liquorix (6.9-12) unstable; urgency=medium

  * add AMD HDMI audio fix
   - ALSA: hda: Conditionally use snooping for AMD HDMI
  * update version to 6.9.12-2

Also note, the change in question will be going to a stable release soon and will be upstream of Liquorix.

My fault. I was eager to have my system updated.

Here's what you need:

Can you also provide the output of inxi -Ax?

Also, you can try getting errors from your previous boot with sudo journalctl -b -1 -kp3

:: Code ::
$ inxi -Ax
Audio:
  Device-1: Intel 9 Series Family HD Audio vendor: Micro-Star MSI 9
    driver: snd_hda_intel v: kernel bus-ID: 00:1b.0

    bus-ID: 3-6:4
  API: ALSA v: k6.9.12-1-liquorix-amd64 status: kernel-api
  Server-1: PipeWire v: 1.0.5 status: active

For the other command:

Specifying boot ID or boot offset has no effect, no persistent journal was found.

I have output of regular dmesg and/or journalctl too but they are BIG, I'll try with pastebin:

JOURNALCTL: https://pastebin.com/3atku6v8
DMESG: https://pastebin.com/CvRmnxh5

Sorry for the delay but the settings on forum stop me to post too soon after another post.

EDIT: for some reason I convinced myself this is a NVidia driver issue. Tried to purge/reinstall v555 nvidia driver, now I can boot only with generic 6.8.0-39 kernel. All versions of liquorix, even the version working only 1 hour ago, cannot reach the desktop. Booting with Xanmod 6.10.3-x64v3-xanmod1 there is no apparent issue and the system reaches the desktop.

Yup, it looks like you do have an nvidia issue. Your issue appears to be related to this: askubuntu.com/questions/1506606/options-nvidia-drm-modeset-1-in-place-but-still-have-the-modeset-error

You're running Linux Mint, so I'm assuming they put in some custom configuration somewhere, maybe /etc/default/grub to help, but maybe it's backfiring.

All I can recommend is try switching to the Graphics Driver PPA as mentioned in the readme: launchpad.net/~graphics-drivers/+archive/ubuntu/ppa. This will require some intervention on your part, but this is what's required to get nvidia stuff to work properly.

I am already using the graphics-drivers PPA, I gave a look at /etc/default/grub but the remediations suggested in that post are already in place.

I think I'll have to do some further investigations.

Thank you!
