I rechecked this, and realized the edit time limit for regular users was simply set too low. I've increased that to a more reasonable time limit, sorry about that. I'd totally forgotten about that short time limit.

So now users can click the edit button which will be available for a longer time, I set it to be reasonable for almost all cases, but not out of hand.

That was my mistake, I'd noticed this failure to mark resolved for a while and had forgotten how short the edit window had been (1 day for regular users).
