Another user got the same with this:

'/lib/modules/2.6.32-1-mepis-smp/build/include/linux/kernel.h' does
not exist. The most likely reason for this is that the kernel
source path '/lib/modules/2.6.32-1-mepis-smp/build' is incorrect.
Please make sure you have installed the kernel source files for your
kernel and that they are properly configured; on Red Hat Linux
systems, for example, be sure you have the 'kernel-source' or
'kernel-devel' RPM installed. If you know the correct kernel source
files are installed, you may specify the kernel source path with the
'--kernel-source-path' command line option.

There is no kernel.h in /lib/modules/2.6.32-1-mepis-smp/build/include/linux/kernel.h . I don't think there ever was.

Debian 2.6.32-trunk-686 gives the same error and it doesn't have a kernel.h file in the above mentioned path either.

As stated by anticapitalista, I am also receiving the same ERROR: (245) using the same kernel.

Thanks,
Cut

Some more information.

MEPIS 2.6.32-7 and 2.6.32-5 fail
Debian 2.6.32-5-trunk-686 fails.
sidux 2.6.32-3 ok
liquorix 2.6.32-6 ok.

I think the problem is not related to sgfxi, but the kbuild in antiX.

yes, we started getting these exact errors in arch too during testing.

If someone can point me to what needs to happen to get around this, that would be good. I already tried some fixes and workarounds, but they didn't fix or workaround the stuff so I stopped.

That fact that debian's also are failing is interesting.

Not a technical reply, h2, but the problem in antiX is now solved.
It errored when using the linux-kbuild from Debian (squeeze and/or sid), but did work ok when using the MEPIS version of linux-kbuild.
(Both kbuild are for 2.6.32 kernel).

I did note that the headers folder for both Debian and Mepis kernels are pretty empty compared to liquorix and sidux. Also, when it wouldn't compile, there were sym links missing.

I'll try again with a Debian kernel and the MEPIS linux-kbuild and see if it is ok.

there's been a kernel api change apparently, may require a patch, which I can test soon, but the patch requires a lot of testing, it's not clear if it will affect older kernels etc.

Why these stupid apis have to change at random is beyond me, it's like linux actually wants to fail.

Using the MEPIS linux-kbuild package does build nvidia for the 2.6.32-trunk-686 kernel.

The Debian one fails to build for a Debian kernel or a Mepis kernel (on my box).

Here is the log for the one that works:

Well, what a bummer.

antiX-M8.5-rc1 full doesn't want to play at all. Cannot install nvidia via sgfxi whichever version of linux-kbuild is used.

This morning I could.

This seems so random.

we got that randomness too, was working then randomly failed. We have a patch I'm just not sure how to implement it yet, I'll do a test version first.
