In order to export or import your Outlook address book, you need to do the following procedure. First, to export your current outlook address book file, do this:

  • Open Microsoft Outlook 2002 or 2003.
  • Open the "File" menu and select "Import and Export."
  • Select "Export to a File" and click "Next."
  • On file open dialogue box, there is a 'view' option => 'arrange by' => 'address cards'.
  • Select your "Contacts" folder and click "Next."
  • Select "Comma Separated Values (Windows)" and click "Next."
  • Select the "Contacts" folder to export from and click "Next."
  • Specify a location where you would like to save the file, and enter a name for the .CSV file. Then click "Next."
  • Make sure to check the box next to "Export Contacts from the Contacts Folder," and then click "Finish" to export the data to the .CSV file.

Sometimes the 'comma separated value' option occurs before the 'export to file' option.

It's possible that the import / export feature is not installed, so you'll have to get your office disk and allow outlook to install the necessary software.

Needless to say, this procedure is not nearly as elegant or as intuitive as it should be.

To importt the files into another machine, either place the comma separated value file on a usb memory stick, or share them over the network. Then use the 'import comma separated values' option on import, navigate to the csv file, and start importing. The destination is 'contacts' for the import procedure assuming that you have Outlook.
