Let me say UP FRONT that I have no use for norton. POS.... however.... there's ghost, and now since norton owns it, I don't have it any more.

Well, after looking a bit more, it seems like what I might want if I want to go this route is ghost2003. But I'm still wondering if there's something out there that doesn't say "norton" on it....

If you just want to create a disk image, here's a list of free options.

I haven't really dealt much with disk imaging, norton ghost, don't like it, it wants to do weird proprietary stuff to the disk partition tables before proceeding so I always just stopped there.

Ghost, no, don't use it. There are other options though. depends on what you want to do.

If this is related to the maxtor disk failure, check out the maxblast3 floppy disk copy utility.

Related only in that I would like a better option NEXT time *laughing*. In other words, I'd prefer to have an easily-available image of the new drive once it's all back together, so next time I don't have to do the reinstallation dance, y'know?
