Would it be possible to add the modesetting driver to the video drivers that inxi detects / reports ?

This came up in a thread at the mxlinux forum, it was posted in the Development Team subforum which you might not be able to access, so I'm reposting a couple of the posts here.

I think the "N/A" might be confusing. If we can't get this fixed then at least we should be prepared to explain to users what is going on.

You can largely see what's going on by posting this data:

as can I.

So I need to see what actually happens in a system that loads this driver, to make sure adding it is safe.

To list drivers, inxi counts the loaded drivers, then adds them to the unloaded set if the xorg log shows them as unloaded.

If it all appears fine, then adding it is easy.

look good, one other issue may be the ability to add sensors output as well for the modesetting gpu

can you post on the system using modesetting driver what output is for:

Currently inxi will attempt to get gpu temp for nouveau/radeon drivers along with nvidia, if there is sensors data for modesetting as well I may be able to extend support there as well, but I'd need to see the sensors raw output to see.

I'll have the updated inxi up in a few minutes for basic modesetting support add.

this is now corrected in 2.3.5. But do provide the sensors output so I can check if gpu temp support can be added for machines using modesetting driver.

By the way, this was truly an oversight, when I checked sgfxi to update it as well, I realized I'd already added modesetting driver there, but just didn't add that to inxi at the same time, sorry.

Oh, wait, never mind, I checked, this is already handled, and it would have worked fine with the modesetting driver because the search of sensors data doesn't care what driver was running the video, it's just searching for the relevant foss pci data in sensors, so this feature is complete, good.
