Do you guys also see one Tux for each available CPU? It displays 2.

How would I check that?
I should have 8 or 4 depending on how hyperthreading affects it if it is related to the number of CPU cores. I still have 63 ttys since I have not rebooted (or rebuilt with CONFIG_NR_TTY_DEVICES=12) since 3.7.5. My main computer has been up 6d 5h, I can reboot it tomorrow if you want me to test something. My media server has been up 11d 14h running 3.7.5 though thats not close to the record of 36d 13h running 3.5.4. Back to top |

Ah, no, sorry! This one has nothing to do with the TTYs, but with the Buddhist Tux logo that I mentioned earlier! Here it displays one penguin for each available processor.
If someone has 8 CPUs, this may become extremely exciting or extremely annoying, depending on his view of the world. Back to top |

what's this, liquorix is shipping with buddha boot logos? damentz gets some bonus points for spreading the dharma if that's the case, nice.

I can slow it down if you want :P. And also, what's the contents of your /etc/inittab file? This is where you can configure the number of useful tty's. Back to top |

The speed is fine, I can read it on a slower computer this one is just overpowered. Never noticed the logo on that one either though. This is what is in my /etc/inittab file. :: Code ::

If the framebuffer is set to 640x480, the boot logo is not shown, but only a few boot messages can be seen, due to the resolution limited size.
If set to 1024x768, one logo is shown, but the boot messages flicker. If set to 1280x800, which is the correct resolution for my screen, I see two boot logos. After some web search, I found that I'm going to see one logo for each CPU available. I don't really know what's the point of this behaviour, but it is how it works. Back to top |

the logos have been there for as long as I can remember, it's nothing new, the old zen kernels used to have a cool zen graphic, I think it was a blue z but I could be wrong, and correct, one per cpu / core. Don't remember if it's doubled with HT intel kernels.
I'm not a particular fan of the cartoon penguin, but it is what it. Back to top |

I'm not much fan of it either. And I only found an empty Tumbler, lol openclipart.org/detail/13842/beverage-glass-(tumbler)-by-willscrlt
