Hola techadmin, I am getting following error in smxi, only on 32-bit computers.
Kernel update shows a null value, however the newer kernel exists in repo.
This began happening some time ago, but I did not have time to report it and was not sure that it was indeed a bug.
Kernel 3.2.04-686-pae is in repo and can be installed fine, but only manually, not via smxi.

for issues like this I need to see the full smxi log file, or at least the full section from very start to where it gets to the information section/kernel question.

I checked this and it looks like debian testing/sid has removed the non pae 686 kernel but left in the linux-image-686 package which just tries to grab the pae.

So this might be why it's failing, but I have to check what is actually happening in the system.

Just a month or two ago, debian had both 686 and 686-pae available, today, they don't, apparently. ah well.

I have not been using this in a while, so my memory is rusty.
Please let me know where those smxi log files are and I will be glad to post them.
Thanks for quick answer.

/var/log/smxi.log

it looks like debian has changed/removed something over the last few weeks, but haven't actually brought things into true sync.

Also show inxi -bxx

I believe what is happening is that smxi is basically working correctly, but is failing to show the correct 'no non pae kernel for your system' type message. But once I see your specific system I'll know for sure.

I have 3 32-bit computers.
This is info for dinosaur (it is over 10 years old, but looking good).
So, I updated/upgraded it via smxi and got these messages:
:: Code ::
Your current kernel version is: 3.2.0-4-686-pae
The latest kernel for your version is: NO KERNEL DATA
Error No: (251) The kernel installer received a null value for the kernel to install...

Option 1 install apt kernel does not work.
smxi log is humongous, and I don't see an option to attach it.
What should I do here?
:: Code ::
root@dinosaur:/home/ckosloff# inxi -bxx

ah, good, that explains at least part of it.

I'll have to modify the pae tests a bit then.

Most modern era cpus have pae except for pentium M, a popular laptop chip during that era.

So, you don't need any more reports from the other computers, right?
Keep me posted so when you come up with a fix I'll test it for you.
Thank you.
