Hi,

I tried it several times, but I canīt get X work with the nvidia drivers. I installed the current and the older driver. In both cases I get a black screen and neither mouse nor keyboard. wrk.
Ihave had to do a hardreset.
The only way to get X work is to do sgfxi -n and to delete the createt xorg.conf file.
If I donīt delete it, I fall back to console and X doesnīt start.

Can anybody help me?

fatal server error no screens found almost always means that your xorg.conf is wrong, or that you have some unusual setup that you forgot to mention.

However, this forum is not nvidia driver support, they still have not set up their support forums after leaving nvnews.net but they should be up at some point.

However, no screens found usually means that whatever your xorg.conf says to do can't be done in the real world, that's often but not always the case of user error.

The areas I can support are: sgfxi makes an error on the download or install of the driver; sgfxi makes an error detecting the type of driver for your card; sgfxi makes an error creating your xorg.conf.

You have to post the details: inxi -bxxx
of your system so we can see if it's a sgfxi error or just a bug with nvidia driver itself.

And as I said above, X (with nouveau driver) doesnīt work when xorg.conf is present. which is created by sgfxi -n. I had to delete it, then I can start X.
With the nvidia-drivers X doesnīt star either, there is a black screen, mouse and keyboard, donīt work and I have to do an hardreset. So I couldnīt post anything.

I can't tell you everything, but I can tell you that the current configs for creating xorg.conf often break keyboard and or mouse, it took me a long time to discover what the cause for that was, which is an incorrect xorg.conf entry.

Note the: Option "Device" "/dev/psaux"
that is what I needed to add, or was it the: Option "Protocol" "IMPS/2"

I don't remember, that was to get my mouse scroll wheel back.

So you could well have several issues, if I were you I'd figure out your keyboard/mouse issue so that you get the system running with nouveau but with xorg.conf, then once you have that figured out, find out the cause for the chip not working.

These aren't really sgfxi issues however, but the xorg configuration, which is the native xorg generated one plus a few other things by sgfxi, could be a sgfxi bug but I don't think it is, it sounds like it's something unrelated, like either an xorg or an nvidia, or both, bug.

Thanks for your efforts. But it doesnīt help. With nvidia-drivers I canīt start X and only a hardreset helps moving on.
When I X start with the nouveau driver I have to delete xorg.conf

I can't fix issues with nvidia, hopefully that's obvious. I've told you the probable causes, and I also can't fix or test those for you, you have to do that, it's not sgfxi's job to fix such issues, just to install nvidia drivers. Or fglrx. Or noueau. That's the only real area I can change anything for people.

Usually I'd send you to the nvidia forums to file a bug report, since there's nothing I can do, but they are rebuilding those I believe.

It's not my efforts that are required in this case, it will probably be yours, unfortunately.

Not sure if this helps but I have not had any problems with nvidia 210 and nvidia drivers. Just ask if you need any more information regarding my system.
