Hi.

I've been using Debian Sid with Liquorix kernel for more than a year.

Sometime after the update to 3.2.9 kernel, when "update-initramfs -u" runs, i have severam modules with errors.

:: Code ::

FATAL: Module xhci not found.
FATAL: Module zfcp not found.
FATAL: Module dasd_diag_mod not found.
FATAL: Module dasd_eckd_mod not found.
FATAL: Module dasd_fba_mod not found.
FATAL: Module sqlzma not found.
FATAL: Module unlzma not found.
FATAL: Module overlayfs not found.
FATAL: Module unionfs not found.
FATAL: Module ide-cd not found.
FATAL: Module ide-generic not found.

I've googled for this error and trying to find how to resolve it, but until now, i couldn't found nothing that resolved the issue.

Can someone help me?

Thanks. :)

DeepDayze gave me a heads up yesterday that something's wrong with the new version of initramfs-tools in debian unstable.

Install the one in testing for now and you'll be fine.

:: Code ::
$ apt-cache policy initramfs-tools
initramfs-tools:
  Installed: 0.100
  Candidate: 0.101
  Version table:
     0.101 0
        500 http://debian.yorku.ca/debian/ unstable/main amd64 Packages
 *** 0.100 0
        500 http://debian.yorku.ca/debian/ testing/main amd64 Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

the latest kmod and initramfs-tools is rather broken for x86 and I had no issues on x86_64...weird.

The problem with the new kmod/initramfs-tools is that while it builds proper initrds for the RUNNING kernel it builds incomplete ones for the non-running kernels.

I have found kmod 5-2 and the matching initramfs-tools version in the snapshots repo and installed it on my old thinkpad so that I can build initrds.

There is a bug report out there for this problem:bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=662891

I have those messages with x86_64.

The strange thing is that i downgraded initramfs-tools to 0.100 and the messages continued. Then i upgraded again to 0.101 and now i have less "warnings".

:: Code ::

FATAL: Module xhci not found.
FATAL: Module zfcp not found.
FATAL: Module dasd_diag_mod not found.
FATAL: Module dasd_eckd_mod not found.
FATAL: Module dasd_fba_mod not found.

Here is another bug report with the issue: bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=662822

But, in the end, it is not a liquorix bug. I'm sorry for posting here this issue. :)

dont' be sorry for posting, better to warn about something that might be a problem than not to, and if other people who use liquorix noted this, they'd know the reason.
