Just installed Debian Testing KDE from netinstall with a radeon 9800 card, and tried both:
sgfxi -n
sgfxi -N radeon

Both installed, but neither accelerated at all. What am I missing? I know this card accelerates with both Mepis & Knoppix, both of which are Debian too.

What am I missing?

Check xorg radeon version in those distros.

Then also check the xorg.conf files in each and see if there any issues. Also check debian bug reports on radeon and acceleration.

I think but cant' remember that sgfxi defaults to turning off composite, not sure if that's what you're missing, but that's a simple xorg.conf tweak to change, but I might have updated that a while ago, I'd have to check.
