I am a non geek that if taught am willing to learn a few things.
I also love Linux because for my simple needs is so much better then Windows.
I can work without sound, but must admit hearing sound that you can get would be nice.
My on board card is a VIA 8237 and I have a Card that has a VT1723 which I read ICE1724 is supposed to handle.
If I use a live CD than I get only sound out of my on board card and nothing from my added card.
Looking at my Phono section of my system settings I have 2 VIA 8237 cards showing one grayed out. I also have 2 ICE1724 cards showing also one grayed out.
aplay -l shows this:

I figure that I must have added something that is causing a conflict that is not allowing me any sound and am wondering if that is something that I can add somewhere that will get my 1724 working.
Then maybe the best idea would be to pull that card. Any advice and help would be appreciated.
