The Cathedral and the Bazaar, revisited.
If you haven't read Eric Raymond's The Cathedral and the Bazaar give it a read. It's an interesting analogy between the closed source, proprietary software model used by companies like Adobe and Microsoft and the Open Source projects, most well known now for Linux, GNU, Gnome, Kde, Mozilla, and OpenOffice.org, but not limited to those by any means.
It's been a while since that was published, so it might be worth taking another look at it, from the perspective of how many large changes have happened in the meantime. Back to top |
