I didn't see anything here about the breakage of udev. I did notice this morning that the script puts udev and two lib files on hold. I must have been one of the first to get the new upgrade. There were no warnings anywhere that I usually look. I have applied the aptosid fix and wireless returned. The usb mouse can be activated by unplugging/plugging. The keyboard is active in the terminal, but as soon as x starts, the keyboard is unusable. I'm running sid with icewm and no dm.

Aptosid forums states that keyboard should work with their patch and the problem must be due to something else. Any ideas?

I found this on the aptosid forum:

Try booting with "rw" instead of "ro" in the kernel boot line. It fixes the keyboard and mouse on my netbook. The new udev alone does not fix the issue in all cases, apparently.

Booting once with rw in the kernel boot line fixed both the keyboard and mouse. Rebooting changing back to ro still works. That seems to have been a permanent fix.

That's what I did and can boot and have mouse and keyboard working . . . . but I've still got /run that base-files didn't remove because it wasn't empty
