My Os is Crunchbang Statler with Linux version 2.6.36-2.dmz.5-liquorix-686 (Debian 2.6.36-25) kernel. At boot during the first seconds an error message 'ERROR: Unable to locate IOAPIC for GSI 4' is presented on the screen. In all eigth messages, GSI followed by numbers 1 to 12. Now I wonder if this is something to worry about. Would some kernel option be of benefit? I'd be grateful of any advice.

Hmm, I have similar messages with my old Laptop (ex. Compaq Armada 1750 "tuned" to PIII 500).
I have not experienced any problems related to this yet, so I silently ignore them.

A fix was proposed but it's not perfect. Apparently the available patch introduces a bug in make allnoconfig for 64-bit.

Noapic as a kernel parameter was suggested on a page I googled yestereday. I tried noapic today and there were no error messages. Do not know yet whether there are any untoward effects on system
functions.
