LMDE & smxi: smxi saves the day again
I did a fresh install of LMDE several days ago and had been frustrated with trying to update the distro (700+ files). My ISP limits my bandwidth except between midnite and 6:00 am so I tried to do it with apt-get update and apt-get dist-upgrade using the -y option so I didn't have to stay up all night. Twice I tried and got an unbootable system...easier to reinstall than to diagnose. Tried the Mint Update thing once and it failed too (but at least left the system intact), so I gave up and bit the bullet...during normal hours ran smxi. It worked a charm once I got the right nvidia driver installed (my 6200 card seems to like the 175 driver). This late in the development cycle I probably should have waited for the new release but what the hey, it's a rolling release, right? Working great now, thanks to H2 and the gang!
