I just installed smxi, and made a mistake in configuring it. I misunderstood the question regarding the installation of new kernels when doing an apt-get update/dist-upgrade.

This what i got in my /etc/smxi.conf:

apt-type=apt-get
debian-mirrors-1
kernel-metapackage-1
keyrings-update-4
meta-package-selection=manual
nvidia-sse-test-1
reconfigure-locales
RememberResponses
script-last-du-complete=2010-11-28-15:25
script-last-used=2010-11-28-15:18
udev-kernel26-fix-1
update-nonfree-1

What do i have to change in order for the new versions of the kernel is installed automatically when smxi does update/dist-upgrade? What line needs to be changed?

thank you,

smxi -N

starts smxi with the metapackage question.

Or I think that's accessible via advanced kernel options.

I'm not going to encourage manual editing of the config file because of typos etc.

That's no good; the only option for 'automatic' is for aptosid, and i'm using plain Debian sid, so i edited the file.

ah, ok, that sounds like a faint bug report/feature request then, I'll take a look and make sure that all the undo options fit the redo options, sounds like I missed one there. There are places in smxi where some cruft is left over from it's core sidux tool days.

It's been a few days since a kernel update, this is the kernel i'm using:
:: Code ::

2.6.36-1.dmz.2-liquorix-686

Is this the latest liquorix kernel version?

smxi shows you the latest, why would I track it? it gets updates all the time, especially during active development cycles of new features/bugs fixed etc, like now.

Run smxi -G
and you'll see what the latest is I believe.

-G can be run in X, still needs to be root of course.
