Hello,
I am experimenting once again with that because of some possibly acpi-related problems on my old laptop an soon on my dougters one again.
Now I see that this option is not enabled in the current kernels any more.

Does this mean it is obsolete and not needed any more or do I have to compile the kernel now myself with this option enabled if I want to play with an custom dsdt ?

When 2.6.36 was released, I was having trouble finding a new version of the custom DSDT patch that merged cleanly with the newest stable kernel. Since then, I decided to drop it from zen since no one missed it or wanted to vouch for them.

Hmm,
so its mor or less obsolete currently?
Where could I find that patch in case I want to play with it and have a look whether some updated one comes out ?

Hmm,
this issue has disappeared with kernel 2.6.36-2. My daughters laptop now boots like a charme and even my old PIII-based one seems to react better. Th this DSDT thing seems not to be neede any more (at last with the laptops I do care for).
