A problem with installing the fglrx drivers. Using Simply Mepis 8.5, in a Dell desktop with a Radeon HD3450 card (and a Dell P2210 lcd monitor).

I launched the smxi script, and went straight to the graphics installation option. I started the recommended fglrx installer [10.6]. No problems reported with the installation. But when I tried to restart X-windows, the screen simply hung.

Exactly the same problem with catalyst 10.4.

Is this a known problem? Mepis kernel? Should I be trying any of the other graphic options in smxi?

10-8 is the recommended and current, but that reminds me, I forgot to update something in sgfxi.

Also depends on which kernel you're using.

Your card is in theory supported, but fglrx is a bad driver, so I don't do bug reports for actual driver failures, just for installer failures.
