Epidemic GNU/Linux is very nice. Good Debian testing (Squeeze), custom Zen kernel and (IMO) a good looking KDE 4.4.4 (which is nice by itself in all respects).
On top of that it has some useful custom tools and it seems it adopts the promising packagekit. Its own tools need some polishing for the English translations despite the hard work from Otto (carioca). The translation wiki for them is at www.epidemiclinux.org/wiki/index.php?title=Tradu%C3%A7%C3%A3o_do_Epidemic_para_o_ingl%C3%AAs_%28en_US%29 and I 've already revised the ones there. There are the installer, the upgrade app and the meta-package installer that ain't available yet for translation but hopefully wil be soon so anyone interested in making this distro available with the most correct English translation will be able to do so. Tip: this beta live-dvd (only 833 MB though) comes with the NVIDIA 256.35 graphics driver but not with the 173 and 96 series. So people using older NVIDIA cards can edit GRUB's 'linux' line adding the xdriver=nv parameter. In my old desktop I had to use the 'failsafe' option to boot, removing the xdriver parameter so it used the proprietary driver for my GF 6200. Again, its English support forum is at epidemic.trash80.org/ And of course, 3.2 is still in beta1 stage, anyone can help to shape the final version and any contribution certainly will be very much welcomed.
