Poetry in Spam?
I got this spam email the other day, typical garbage, cheap software or whatever, but the text content was nice, even though it is autogenerated:

happy thinking business noise broken Obviously never open a spam email for any reason, but you can view the content without opening it, in Outlook Express/Outlook, right click on email, make sure your preview pane is not on, disabled that is, select 'properties' from list, click the 'details' tab, then click the 'message source' button on the lower right, that lets you read the actual email content without exposing your computer to the risk of being infected or compromised. That's how I found this gem, didn't want it to just vanish so here it is. Back to top |
I got that one too. Considering some of them, it was a refreshing change! I use MailWasher Pro, and don't have any idea why I happened to double-click on that one, opening it without harm.
Zen/Karma? *shrug* Good an explanation as any, I guess! Back to top |
Hi vkaryl, welcome to here.
I recently switched to thunderbird, which has some bugs in the pre release version, but the latest nightly builds have most of those worked out. The bayesian spam filters are great, you train them, part of the program, nice. Not to mention the feature to turn off html in incoming emails, it changes the email to plain text if it's in html, or just prints the text only version if present. No worries, ctrl + u lets you read the source of any, but it's not necessary in most cases. the junk mail feature just moves stuff to the junk folder, after about a month the filter is trained to catch pretty much all of it. A lot of spam uses tracking images, so when viewing them they can confirm the email address as valid and more valuable. tbird is getting nice, still rough around the edges, but I'm used to that process now after seeing firefox grow up. It was nice to see a spot of poetry pop up from the most unlikely source, Back to top |
Here's another nice piece that came into my junk email box [sorry spammers, but it's getting pretty difficult to get around baynesian spam filters]

Hey vkaryl, you or your husband get some elk?

I was wondering the same, a vacation looking for elk, or a vacation eating caught elk?

I need a vacation from the vacation. No elk, not yet, back out tomorrow at 5 am, drive 70 miles one way (with diesel fuel at 2.19 per gallon just now), bounce around in 4wd over the most GODAWFUL roads, snow all over the place, 20 degrees for the high, below zero at 5 am with a 30 mph wind.
This is fun? Well, in a way. It's fun when it stops (*laughing*).... and elk meat is WAY better than beef. Anyway, we're still hoping - season ends on Sunday, when it's also supposed to snow again.... And THAT my friends, was the SHORT version! Back to top |
Here's another beautiful piece that came in this morning:
