oh forgot to mention
if root (hdo,1) gives you an error....do not proceed with the rest.. It means you need to link grub back to its booting files by doing this root (hd0,1) setup (hd0) and pressing the reset or warm reboot key....no filesystem is loaded so no filesystem check is needed etc Back to top |
Hi aus9,
thank you for your time and efforts. I couldn´t find the grub-menu where I could put in the command C, but I changes the boot options in: root=/dev/sda2 and the kernel was found and startet. But now there is an anothter problem, whichis described here: sidux.com/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&t=18564&highlight= I get error-message every second like this: :: Quote ::
Message from syslogd@sidux at Nov 2 10:18:42 ... kernel:do_IRQ: 0.107 No irq handler for vector (irq -1) manilg Back to top |
hi
when you first boot....you arrive at the menu stage of grub.....you know a menu? at bottom of screen it should say press C or E and if you don't do anything your preferred title boots after 5 seconds www.sidux.com/mediashare/7o/ivsiyggdcxdmu5spt3mlfkuzoig8um-pre.png only its grub legacy and not grub2 Back to top |
@ aus9
thanks for your explanation, when I insert "C" and afterwards "root (hd 0,1) I get the message "unexpected command" and a list of commands I can use... manilg Back to top |
ok
lets try that again ...spacebar = space = v c for commands then type rootv(hd0,1) or rootv(hd....and press TAB key) grub is space sensitive Back to top |
OK,Ok I forgot the "" . Now I get the answer "root not found"
and "setup (hd0) " gets not found manilg Back to top |
ok I feel we are very close to solution but I need you to stay with second question
c for commands root (hd....AND PRESS TAB KEY PLEASE) please post all you see. Leaping ahead I think we have a borked grub Leaping ahead it might actually be faster to do a clean install...but I think you may be the same person at sidux forum and the answers there may be affected by your answers here? b) And just to humour me, did you run any hard drive diagnostics on this drive? c) and did you change anything in bios recently? c) and did you change anything in bios recently? No, I didn´t when adding root hd( in console (after initramfs I get a list of commands like dmesg bklid etc. When adding "root hd( nothing happens manilg Back to top |
hi
I have not quite understood your last comment...If I do understand it, it means you have not understood WHERE and when to type the letter c to get to commands. www.sidux.com/mediashare/t1/o8e5rz50ioozag2oj71me8mksh40zl-pre.png this is a grub legacy menu. Ignore the actual menu items and look at the bottom of the screen....E to edit or C for commands before the countdown clock ticks down to zero I would like you to press C for command mode for grub legacy? Is that clearer? Back to top |
