smxi not removing liquorix kernel cruft
I'm using the 2.6.31-0.dmz.7-liquorix-686 i686 (32 bit) kernel. Having had some trouble installing the .30 archived kernel via smxi today (not a sxmi issue), and dealing with a printing problem in this running kernel (got it fixed), I purged cups (apt-get purge '^cups*') and then reinstalled what was removed and some select recommended packages. I noticed an error at the end of the installation. It was refering to a liquorix kernel that I do not have installed (it was removed by smxi some time ago). Hmm, I says. How can that be? So I went looking.
I used locate as follows: locate *2.6.30-* > 2.6.30-.list locate *lqx.*liquorix* > lqx_cruft.list The results: -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 951676 2009-10-05 21:10 2.6.30-.list -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 36357 2009-10-05 21:17 lqx_cruft.list The amount of pre-.31 cruft left on my system was a shock! I'm sure that this isn't supposed to be the case, is it? I regularly use the smxi cleanup options, to include the one that looks for cruft. I'm more than happy to provide the two files for review. maybe there's some error in the cruft detection method, don't know.

Thank you h2, for getting this resolved last night. Wasn't a smxi issue at all. A previously 'failed' kernel install was the culprit. With you're help (and TheBlunderBuss) last night, I got it all straightened out.
