Samba-server issues
In the Samba Server section, you list option 1 as installing samba, samba-client, swat, smbfs, and winbind. However, when I just chose that option, it only installed samba and samba-common. I verified this by choosing options 2, 3, 4 and 5, and each of them installed the associated programs because they weren't installed with option 1, except for option 5 which gave me an error "Error: please enter one of the numbers on the list". Then I noticed that in the description section above the option list (the green section) you have 5 listed as installing komba2 which is not listed in the lower part.
For option 1, I would like to see you change your description for what gets installed instead of installing the additional programs. I for one, do not use samba between my Linux boxes, so would not need samba-client, etc. and only serve directories to windows boxes. It is ultimately your script, so do as you like, just offering my opinion and helping out by letting you know of issues. Thanks, Al Back to top |
Thanks, both issues are corrected now.
I believe that the samba package changed recently in Sid, not sure, but anyway, I updated the text of 1 to show that it does NOT include the other packages. The other issue was an oversight, which has been there I assume as long as this section has been up, so thanks for noting the missing item. smxi has too many sections for me to test all the time, though I do try now and then to run most of the parts to make sure they all still work.
