possible error with smxi and skype
When installing non-free apps in smxi in sidux 64, the script erroneously reports the skype website as non-functional. But this report is mistaken.

I'll check into it, thanks. I don't use skype or 64 bit, but I can check the download data at least and confirm it's correct or not.
I rely on people's feedback for some of these features and combinations, since I don't personally use them. Back to top |

That error has nothing to do with smxi, it's from the skype web server. Why you got that I can't say, i tried downloading the deb using your url and it's fine, no 416 error. Back to top |
I do however note another problem, the deb that gets downloaded is not for amd64., but rather i386. Does that even install on 64 bit?

it sort of installs....
The 32-bit skype static installs on a 64-bit system thusly: untar it, and run ./skype from the directory. Little clunky method of invocation, but it does run.

Might be time to add back in the skype sources and use the direct install, haven't looked at that for a while though.
