crust, just so you know, after I actually implemented this today I realized that there is no such command for ose, because there is no such init fiile.
/etc/init.d/vboxdrv-ose setup Back to top |
Thanks
The command you wanted me to run:
:: Code :: $ dpkg -l | grep virtualbox | awk '{print $2}'
virtualbox-3.0 I was not absolutely sure about the ose command. I found the command by googling for virtualbox ose kernel module recompile www.google.com/#hl=en&source=hp&q=virtualbox+ose+kernel+module+recompile&aq=f&aqi=&oq=&fp=2cca7b2e99206b9c Thank you for all your help. I'll test out the script. Back to top |
I still get an error with sun repo installed virtualbox
The error I get is:
:: Code ::
ERROR: (186) virtualbox does not appear to be installed, please install it using the menu options. You cannot build the module without having first installed the virtualbox! Back to top |
Please run the rebuild non ose module command again, then use paste.debian.net to paste your /var/log/svmi.log, being of course certain that you have vbox-3.0 installed.
For some reason it's not picking up the -3.0 but that was just fixed or should have been so it's unclear to me why that wouldn't be showing the vbox data, but paste the log so we don't have to speculate. There is no command currently in /etc/init.d that works for setup for ose, I have tested it and that doesn't exist, at least it doesn't on my machine. :: Code :: #/etc/init.d/virtualbox-ose setup
Usage: /etc/init.d/virtualbox-ose {start|stop|stop_vms|restart|force-reload|status} As you may or may not have noticed, things are changing fast in debian, far too fast in my opinion in terms of such basic things. Back to top |
never mind, there was a bug, I had just refactored this and I forgot to set the vbox global for version number for non ose, so that should work now.

... and you are right about the virtualbox-ose command.
Things are indeed changing quite rapidly. Back to top |

svmi updated to vbox 3.0.10
sad news: the new vwmare player requires manual download after confirming and registering, so 3.x vmware player will be unavailable for direct svmi install, unless vmware changes this policy. This should help drive some users to virtualbox I guess, that's too bad. Back to top |
