After a long time, Sun finally resolved their licensing issues and made their non-ose virtualbox stuff available for free open download again. See the 1.6.6 page for details, or just checkout the actual download directories to see what's available.

This means you can now again easily install and upgrade your virtualbox-non-ose if you need things like usb support, which the ose edition doesn't offer.

All in all good news, this was an annoyance that lingered far longer than I expected it to, but it's now officially resolved.

svmi version 1.7.x offers this restored support, along with revamping of the vbox download url stuff to use the new download locations, for debs, and for the guest additions isos.
