Rather than populate the main forum with new sgfxi features, for most minor additions etc, I'm just going to post the latest sgfxi features, packages, etc, here.

Please use the main bug report or feature request threads for posting bugs ore feature requests.

Added fglrx 8-10, updated fglrx driver list and error handling. This is untested as of yet, but I not really getting any fglrx feedback at all anymore from people, so if it works it works.

I'm assuming 8-10 works with current sid 2.6.26 kernel, as well as 8-8, and 8-7 with current patch.

I found 8-9 and 8-10 + 2.6.27 patches, but I'm not going to bother with them until I start getting someone putting their real energy into this, and that someone won't be me.

These threads, usalug and, phoronix, suggest that for 2.6.27, the real driver will be 8-11, for anyone counting.

New testing drivers: nvidia 96.43.09 71.86.07

These drivers I assume support 2.6.27 without patches, and offer xorg 1.5 support, preliminary.

If you use legacy drivers of this series, give them a try.

release notes: www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=122139
sgfxi -co 96.43.09

release notes: www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=122140
sgfxi -o 71.86.07

I also added a new test, for > xorg 1.4, the previous drivers I believe do not support the new xorg, 1.5 and greater.

This should help smooth the new xorg transition too. I always like sgfxi to be ready for changes before they happen, that way I don't have to spend a day debugging when I don't have the time, doesn't always work out that way, but usually it does.

Same old, probably works fine:

Release notes: www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=122423
sgfxi -co 173.14.15

This driver is for the 5xxx nvidia video card series.

Should work in all systems currently running.

This is a beta driver, so it's not default option.

Supports xorg > 1.4 and kernel 2.6.27

Updated patch for 177.82, now patches correctly for 2.6.28 kernels.

If you are running 2.6.28, just do: sgfxi -c

No legacy driver support yet for 2.6.28

sgfxi 4.0.0 is out, this major upgrade is not so much for any new feature, but for a bunch of developer testing and debugging tools I added, and because it's now housed in a standalone svn: code.google.com/p/sgfxi

This will helpfully help get a few other contributors in there, we'll probably work off of branches for new features, and I'm going to try to get a few contributors to join, assuming any interest out there.

This svn also will always include all patches that sgfxi uses currently, and some old ones it no longer uses.

Big update in a lot of ways...

This moves sgfxi to the inxi style testing and debugging flag -! <1-5>or<10-11>or <20-21> for respectively testing levels, alt download locations from svn branches, and alt download locations for svn branches/patches.

sgfxi -U; sgfxi -co 180.06

Beta drivers are always optional, not default, for each driver type.

It wasn't clear if this works without patch on 2.6.28, I'm assuming yes for now

New beta driver released:

sgfxi -co 180.08

Let's see if this fixes any issues. I tested and rejected the last one, all apps window paint speeds started to slow down unacceptably the longer I used it.
