Posted: Sep 12, 05, 22:23    Seagate 300 gig drive and Win Xp only recognizes 128gig??
Just purchased a 300 gig seagate ATA drive and when I try to set partition it only sees 127.8 gigs? Need help. I have win xp Media Center edition 2005 running with service pack 2. I also hav two other drives running, one is 200gig and the other is 150 working fine.

Please help.

What size does the drive show in your bios? That's the first thing to check. Also make sure all the drive jumpers are set correctly, consult the seagate website to check for the jumper settings. But that's probably not the issue. Sometimes if one drive is set to cable select, and the other not, that can cause problems.

But check your bios first, see what it says about the drive.

Also, you can try downloading for example kanotix linux live cd and see if linux recognizes the full drive size.
