Hi,
So I thought I would give antix m8.2 a try in virtualbox. After running through an update with smxi script I get to the selection to restart x and this fails with a suggestion to try CTL+ALT+F7 or CTL+ALT+F8 to restart slim/x. CTL+ALT+F7 does nothing. CTL+ALT+F8 restarts my host machine. startx-command not recognized?? Any help would be appreciated. |

slim has been almost uselessly buggy now for ages, I don't even bother looking at it anymore, I'm sorry to say.
There's almost nothing I can do in smxi to work around slim's bugs, unless someone can post suggestions in terms of special commands that might help it not fail. smxi does know what display manager is being used, in theory, so theoretically slim specific custom hacks could be added, but that wouldn't be a very high priority. Replacing slim with gdm will result in a fairly stable and reliable display manager login method, but slim itself is something I don't look at much anymore, seems like it got stuck somewhere along the line, maybe that will improve in the future, but I don't follow it so I can't tell you that. |

That upgrade, for some reason, does not (re)install xinit.
So an apt-get install xinit should do the trick. |
