Great news: Gnash is released, version 1. Check out the Gnash project page:
:: Quote :: Gnash is a GNU Flash movie player. Till now it has been possible to play flash movies with proprietary software. While there are a few other free flash players, none supports anything higher than SWF v4 at best. Gnash is based on GameSWF, and supports many SWF v7 features.By the way, I've also been trying out kpdf, which is a nice KDE pdf viewer. Not quite as many featurs as the Linux version of Adobe Acrobat Reader, but it works fine. It's important to pull away from all these proprietary applications and drivers, otherwise the switch to Open Source :: Free software becomes less and less meaningful. Personally, now that Adobe bought Macromedia, thus forming yet another mega software enterprise, the further away from their software I can stay the happier I am I've started noticing. Your results can and probably will vary... |
