Linux.com has been running a series of articles that features favorite system administration tools. Here's the latest one, it's got a good, very workable collection.
Nmap, subversion, tcpdump, iptraf, clamAV, netcat are featured in this one. Nice information, although a bit brief for my taste. |

And here's another one, focused on command line tools and programming.
