I also filed this bug with Debian Bugs [link] but it may be more appropriate here.

Package: linux-image-4.3-3.dmz.3-liquorix-amd64
Version: linux-image-4.3-3.dmz.3-liquorix-amd64
Severity: critical
Justification: breaks unrelated software

The driver for the Realtek Semiconductor Corp. RTL8191SU 802.11n WLAN
Adapter worked perfectly in the past but starting with linux-image-4.3-0
and all more recent versions of the kernel the wifi adapter has
completely stopped working . The problem exists not only with the
liquorix kernel but also with the ordinary amd64 kernel for the 4.3
versions. There is no problem with the 4.2-5 kernel and so I must use
that version until this bug is fixed.

Exhibit A: Working configuration

Can you try the latest kernel, 4.3-3.dmz.4? I backported all the realtek wifi updates from Linux 4.4-rc7. Per this bug report on launchpad, bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1514316, the latest commits to 4.4 should fix your problem.

Now regarding your post to Debian... I think that will fall on deaf ears. Liquorix is uploaded to liquorix.net and nowhere else. Debian does not know Liquorix exists and they will probably receive your report and just close it. Just a heads up for next time, if it's not in Debian, don't post a bug report to Debian.

Thanks damentz. Yes I'll try the latest kernel, 4.3-3 dmz4 and report back here.
I submitted this bug to Debian because, as I mentioned, it was not ONLY a problem with the Liquorix kernels but also with the "plain" amd64 kernel as in the linux-image-4.3.0-1-amd64 package.

Thanks again for your help.

The 4.3-3.dmz4 kernel arrived this morning and I tried it out. Sadly it hasn't fixed the problem although the wifi app sitting in the system tray looks a bit more normal (coloured white rather than purple) but spins for a long time and then gives up.
Here are the 4.3-3.dmz4 details.

Thanks again for your help and patience.

Actually, everything seems to look fine, but you seem to be having problems with ipv6 - what happens if you turn that off?

I removed ipv6 by adding ipv6.disable=1 to the GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX variable in /etc/default/grub. As you can see from the following Wireless-Info report ipv6 seems to be gone but now things are even worse. No network connections appear in the wireless system tray icon. It just seems to get to a certain point in its set up and gives up.

At this point, I would recommend rolling back to 4.2. Linux 4.4 is scheduled to be released in January, once Liquorix or Debian updates, your bug should be fixed.

Yes, this is this option I've been using. As we are now in January, I won't have too long to wait. Thanks again for all your help. It is very much appreciated.

As of 4.4-3.dmz.2-liquorix-amd64 the problem is now solved. I had tried earlier versions of the 4.4 kernel (4.4-1 and 4.4-2) but the problem remained. I have been using the wired connection via a tp-link bridge. I recently received this latest version of the liquorix kernel and tried my wifi adapter. It now works flawlessly.

Thanks for your excellent work. It is very much appreciated.
Great job!!!
