Hmm, according to your output, you're a distribution called Sparky.

My only recommendation that since it's based on Debian, add in the unstable sources and run a dist-upgrade. It could be that your user space and firmware is too old to support the 4.0 kernel.

Sid just recently updated the firmware packages to support the 4.0 series, so firmware-iwlwifi 0.4.4 is the package:

packages.debian.org/sid/firmware-iwlwifi

Changelog:

* iwlwifi: Add Intel Wireless 3160, 7260 7265 and 7265D firmware version
23.11.10.0 (ABI 10)
* iwlwifi: Update Intel Wireless 3160, 7260 and 7265 firmware to version
25.228.9.0 (ABI 9)

IMO, it would be safer to just download and install the deb file instead of adding the unstable repo and doing a dist-upgrade.
