Just found another place where Windows XP home messes with you, it doesn't have the default backup software installed, you have to manually install it from the Windows XP home edition disk.
From theeldergeek.com :: Quote :: To Manually Install the Backup Utility
* Insert the CD Rom and navigate to CD-ROM Drive:\VALUEADD\MSFT\NTBACKUP * Double-click the Ntbackup.msi file to start the wizard that installs Backup * When the wizard is complete, click Finish. Nice info eldergeek, that's generally a decent site for tech info, I've found working solutions there more than a few times. Now as to MS stripping that out of home edition, that's just sad, MS has done a few things right over the years, and their system tools have been one of them [well, ok, they didn't write most of them, that's why they are good, defrag, backup, most of these they licensed, or probably stole] |

Another reason I never advise anyone to use XPHome. If you're going to use XP, make sure it's XPPro SP1! Reminds me, got to find somewhere to buy another copy of XPPro SP1 before they all disappear.
Nope. Not installing SP2. Not gonna do it. |
