Did a d-u last night and after having to rerun installing KDE+xorg (using your useful collection in the desktops section) finding out then that not all xserver stuff was installed/upgraded I got KDE to show up. I do now have another problem. No working mouse or keyboard (keyboard work fine in init 3). Is there something I can do to fix it or do I need a fresh install?

Yes:

:: Code ::
apt-get install xserver-xorg-input-kbd xserver-xorg-input-mouse

Not sure why those are still not pulled in as dependencies, but that's usually why kbd/mouse don't work.

Could be other reasons though.

Thanks It probably is. At work at the moment and can not confirm, but seeing as kde didn't pull in all xserver dependencies it wouldn't surprise me if that is the problem.
