Just testing with 2.6.32 rc6 now. For whatever reason (kernel, Xorg, Nvidia-driver ?) I have to boot now mostly twice.
On first boot pretty often Xorg doesn't start or dies. On an reboot it seems to be ok until next day.

regards

Reiner

Posted: Nov 11, 09, 1:32    2.6.32-rc6 kdm fails to start
Just happened to get my daughters HP615 in my hands, upraded it and tried the newer kernels (2.6.32-rc6-dmz1 +2) on it.
While the previous problems with acpi seem to have gone mostly and the new broadcom 4312 chip is now covered by b43-module I have found a new "showstopper". When booting up kdm seems to die after a while or doesnt'T really come up.
After a while you are back on a text-console. Starting kdm manually via /etc/init.d/kdm restart however brings up the kdm-screen and from then on working in graphical mode is possible.
StartX also works.
This might be caused by not too god teamwork between the kernel and the ati-driver (9.10) as this behaviour doesn't occur with the parallel installed kernel 2.6.29-4.

@damentz:
Just visited your site (www.liquorix.net/debian etc) to grab me your newest 2.6.32-rc-kernel and found its look a little strange currently. Looks like you changed font and colours and the newer font is not a monospaced font any more.

Have you heard any news on nsf-support lately ? It is still mentioned to not being supported by the kernel on bootup.

Read this -> bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=554508

It's a bug in the nfs-kernel-server init scripts.

EDIT: This bug report also has some drop in replacement code to check for nfs -> bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=550153
