Internet Explorer Position:relative bug and workaround

This is with position:relative;, as you can see it doesn't work in IE, this bug affects IE 5x and 6.

Notice that the space for the floated div 'code' box is there, but it's under the black box, or the quote box below.

Same story here, the floated 'quote' box, should appear upper right corner, it's right floated, but disappears behind the background. Both quote and code have explicit z-index:12 declared, while their containers have z-index:2, that shouldn't be necessary but I thought I'd double check.Third example:

This is with position:relative; changed to position:static;, as you can see it now works IE
